Privacy policy

The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not sell anything, and we do not build a profile of you. The only personal data we hold ourselves is what you type into the contact form, if you use it. Visit statistics (Google Analytics) and advertising cookies are described below; visitors from Europe are asked before any of them is used.

Who operates this site

edmontonlrt.com is published from Spain by a Spanish web studio, while the subject of the site is a Canadian transit system. Data protection law therefore reaches it from more than one direction, and we set out below both the European framework the operator works under and the Canadian rights that apply to visitors from Alberta and the rest of Canada.

The contact form

If you write to us we receive your name, email address and message. We use them for one thing: to reply. We do not add you to a mailing list. Messages are kept while they are useful and then deleted.

The legal basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing [email protected].

Spam protection

The form uses a hidden honeypot field and Google reCAPTCHA v3 to stop automated abuse. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information and sends it to Google for analysis; it is subject to Google's privacy policy.

Server logs and Cloudflare

This site sits behind Cloudflare, which acts as a proxy and a security layer. Cloudflare and our web server keep standard technical logs — IP address, time, page requested, browser — for security and to keep the site up. These are not used to identify you and are not combined with anything else.

Analytics and advertising

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked first. On the first visit Google's consent message — a consent platform certified under the IAB's TCF v2.2 — asks what you allow. Nothing beyond the strictly necessary is stored until you answer, either with Consent or purpose by purpose under Manage options, where you can also refuse everything.

Everywhere else, Canada included, no banner is shown: the cookies below are used on the basis of this notice, and you can refuse them by blocking cookies in your browser or by installing Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

• Statistics — Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics sets its _ga cookies so we can see how many people visit and which pages they read. We look only at totals; GA4 does not store IP addresses. In Europe this happens only if you accept; if you refuse, the page sends Google a cookieless signal (Google Consent Mode) that carries no identifier and is used only for aggregate modelling.
• Advertising — Google AdSense. Ads may be shown on the site. Google may use cookies to measure and personalise them — in Europe only with your consent; without it, Google limits itself to non-personalised or limited ads. You can also manage this in Google's ad settings.

In both cases Google processes the data under its own privacy policy, and the transfer to the United States rests on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. For European visitors the legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any moment from the Privacy and cookie settings link at the foot of every page; for Canadian visitors it is the implied consent PIPEDA allows for non-sensitive information, with the opt-outs above. Your rights

Under the EU GDPR — which applies because the site is operated from Spain — you may ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our using it. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within a month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Spanish supervisory authority, the AEPD (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).

If you are in Canada, you have equivalent rights under PIPEDA and, in Alberta, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) — including access to, and correction of, your personal information. Canadian complaints can be taken to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC). We are happy to deal with a request under whichever framework applies to you.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
