How to check the LRT before you travel
The board above tells you, at a glance and in Edmonton time, whether each line is inside its operating hours. That is most useful late at night: no Edmonton LRT line runs overnight, so after about 1 am the honest answer for every line is “not running” — the OWL night buses take over until around 3 am.
For live disruptions — a signal problem, weekend maintenance, a temporary closure — ETS publishes alerts itself, and that is the authoritative source. This page is where to start; edmonton.ca/ets is where to confirm.
Read the destination on the train
North of Churchill the Capital and Metro lines split — Capital carries on northeast towards Clareview, Metro heads northwest to NAIT/Blatchford Market. On the shared trunk both use the same platforms, so check the front of the train for where it is actually going.
Capital ↔ Metro is free and usually same-platform
Through the seven shared downtown stations either line will do, and switching between them costs nothing and rarely means changing platforms. Within your 90-minute window there is nothing more to pay.
The Valley Line is a separate walk at Churchill
The green Valley Line does not share track with Capital or Metro. To connect, walk about four minutes across the plaza between the underground Churchill Station and the surface Valley Line stop — both are called Churchill.
No overnight LRT
All lines run roughly 5 am to 1 am. There is no 24-hour service; after the trains stop, ETS OWL night buses run until around 3 am.

Status questions
The board on this page shows each line against its real operating hours in Edmonton time — all three run roughly 5 am to 1 am, seven days a week. None run overnight. For live incidents, check ETS alerts at edmonton.ca/ets.
Parts of the Capital Line have been running since 1978, and track, signals and stations all need upkeep. ETS does much of that work at quieter times, which is when single-tracking, reduced frequencies or shuttle buses can appear. It is normal and announced in advance.
None. Every station on all three lines — Capital, Metro and the Valley Line Southeast — is open and step-free. New stations are still being built (see the long-term changes above), but nothing currently in service is closed.
